Storm Watch: Waiting for the next series of storms
04 September 2009
When I check on the Midwestern weather, the very first thing that I look for is the active weather alerts for the area. Usually I can see immediately where the areas of concern are at, but today was a little different. As I was looking at the weather charts I realized that about sixty to seventy percent of the entire country was on a weather watch. There was nothing specific, but there are many areas of concern for storms that will rise up over the next few days.
It will be interesting to watch this as it develops. Usually at the end of summer you can have storms of great intensity because there is so much heat and moisture in the air. If a bubble of dry air moves south from Canada then there could be some very large storms…perhaps some of the largest of the year. Of course these storms bring with them the threat of hail damage. Cumulonimbus clouds during this part of the year extend high into the atmosphere so hail damage is a major probability. Be sure to watch for these storms and contact the roofing contractors at Evergreen Construction if you sustain any damage.
