Storm Watch: Understanding elements
25 September 2009
I have been reviewing the different elements of weather over the last few days. Many people do not understand what goes into a local weather forecast. Of course it is easy to poke fun at the weather man. There are so many times when the weather prediction is wrong. There is a reason for this. Weather is not considered an exact science. Instead it is thought of as a quasi science and quasi art. This is because there are so many elements that you must consider when making a weather prediction.
Anyone involved with weather prediction always thinks about the impact the elements will have on people. Tornados, hail damage, hurricanes are all a part of this equation. When analyzing a weather chart my first thought is “how will this concern hail damage in the area?” But there are so many things to consider. Temperature, winds, pressure, moisture, topography and the like all affect how to analyze the weather. The tricky part is knowing what element will dominate and drive the storm. You can never predict the weather perfectly but you can find people to help you deal with the effects. The people at Evergreen Construction have roofing contractors that can help you with anything that you may need and you do not have to guess about the results.
Storm Watch: Benefits of repairing your roof
15 September 2009
Today I looked at a lot of the weather alerts and I noticed that there are not as many thunderstorms to worry about. Of course there are other things that need to be considered like flash floods, but for the moment you do not need to worry about hail or thunder. This gives me a moment to consider other things about these storms. The threat of flash floods is serious and these can really wreak havoc on a home. You need to make sure that you and your family are protected.
This also might be a good time to review the amount of hail damage your roof has sustained this summer. It is really important for you to address this before the start of the winter season. The weather services have been expecting some winter thunderstorms so your roof will be exposed to some serious elements. The good thing is that you can qualify for a tax relief if you fix your roof. The best thing that you can do is contact the roofing contractors of Evergreen Construction. Not only will they help you with your roof hail damage, but they can explain all the tax benefits of a new roof.
Storm Watch: Sever flooding and hail damage
12 September 2009
If you do not already have one, then this is a good time for you to consider researching a roofing contractor. I know that most people are concerned with the flooding that is occurring all over the Midwest and Southeast, but these storm systems can also cause a lot of problems to the roofing of homes. When I looked at the active weather alerts today I saw large areas of flooding. This was especially the case for the Southeast region where the flooding is now causing some very serious problems.
The last that I heard there were at least five deaths associated with these huge storms and they have even closed down several freeways in the area. It might be difficult to find a good roofing contractor in these conditions but you need to address any hail damage you sustain. The people at Evergreen Construction can help you address any hail damage problems that you might have. Of course you will need to address any flooding problems as well but do not neglect your roof. The winter season is coming very soon and you need to make sure that your home is fully insulated and protected.
Storm Watch: Waiting for the next series of storms
04 September 2009
When I check on the Midwestern weather, the very first thing that I look for is the active weather alerts for the area. Usually I can see immediately where the areas of concern are at, but today was a little different. As I was looking at the weather charts I realized that about sixty to seventy percent of the entire country was on a weather watch. There was nothing specific, but there are many areas of concern for storms that will rise up over the next few days.
It will be interesting to watch this as it develops. Usually at the end of summer you can have storms of great intensity because there is so much heat and moisture in the air. If a bubble of dry air moves south from Canada then there could be some very large storms…perhaps some of the largest of the year. Of course these storms bring with them the threat of hail damage. Cumulonimbus clouds during this part of the year extend high into the atmosphere so hail damage is a major probability. Be sure to watch for these storms and contact the roofing contractors at Evergreen Construction if you sustain any damage.
Storm Watch: Assessing potential hail damage
02 September 2009
As a weather forecaster that are many concerns to have on a daily basis. Of course the first thing that you look for are the most potentially dangerous storms that pass through the country. Whether this concerns fronts or hurricanes it is always important to find the most serious threats first. This country suffers from all sorts of elements that can be potential dangerous. Heat and fire warnings are usually the precursor for fire. In addition to this, high levels of humidity are an indication of serious thunderstorms that could pass through the area.
The purpose of looking at all of these elements is to help ensure that people and their properties remain safe during inclement weather. Wind and surf damage from hurricanes is always a concern. Tornado and hail damage from cold fronts is also important. As a scientist, it is important to keep an objective perspective and provide people with the information they need. Hail damage is always a concern for the people from the Midwest so this must be accounted for. Looking to the future it is important to understand the potential threat these storms pose. Sometimes it cannot be avoided and you need a good roofing contractor like Evergreen Construction to protect your home.
Storm Watch: Keeping an eye out for late season storms
31 August 2009
As the end of the storm season starts to wind down it is easy to let your guard up, but that could be a big mistake. Some of the late summer storms can be the worst because historically the month of August and the beginning of September are the hottest months of the year. This additional heat can help to create some very serious storms especially if there is a any cold air moving in from the north. Because of this you will want to make sure that your bases are covered.
It was only a year ago that I was flying into the Twin Cities airport when we encountered a very large thunderstorm. It was the worst case of turbulence that I have ever experienced and the first time that I heard audible gasps from the other passengers as the plane bounced up and down. The hail damage from this storm was incredible. After I landed I had to wait in the airport for a long time until the storm had passed but it was amazing. I am sure that there were several calls to roofing contractors the next day to take care any sustained hail damage.
Storm Watch: Troubling signs in the Atlantic
13 August 2009
We are only part way through the storm season and there are some troubling signs on the horizon. Just as it seems that we have gotten through the worst part of the Midwestern storms there are some depressions that are forming in the Atlantic. There are two lows that are located just south of Cuba and another a little bit farther east. The system to the east looks like it has the greatest potential to develop into a hurricane and it has plenty of room to gain momentum.
The problem with these storms is that there are no natural barriers to stop them. Until they make landfall, they just build upon their own power. The ocean water is warmer this time of year and this just makes these storms that much more powerful. This signals the start of the hurricane season. The amount of wind and hail damage from these storms is very severe and it is recommended that you prepare your home before they make landfall. At the very least you should consider a roofing contractor like Evergreen Construction to help with any hail damage that you might sustain.
Storm Watch: Tropical Storm Advisory
10 August 2009
You know that there is a lot of moisture in the air when there are areas in the Midwest that are under a tropical storm advisory. Well, that is currently the case and there are several states in both the Midwest and the Northeast that are currently under this watch. That means that the tropical air mass has moved quite a bit inland from the Gulf of Mexico. Normally you will only find these kind of warnings situated near the coastlines. In addition to this, you rarely see them posted for the west coast because the ocean is significantly cooler here.
It is a sign that things have begun to change and it is very difficult to determine just how much they will change or how long they will last. The current warnings call for storms, and as with any tropical storm there is always the possibility for hail damage. Tropical storms tend to have a lot more vertical lift than other types of storms so they can actually become quite large. This means that hail damage from these storms can be more severe than normal. Because of this, you need to be sure that your home is protected. Call the people at Evergreen Construction. These roofing contractors are some of the most experienced in the business and they can help you with any damage you sustain.
Storm Watch: Microbursts, wind and hail damage
07 August 2009
During this time of year it is very important to understand the nature of storms and how they work. During the spring and summer there is a lot more vertical air mass. This is because the air is heated and expands. The only place for the air to go is up. It is an important principle because this allows for the size of storms to be much greater in the summer than in the winter. This combined with the natural flows of air from both the north and south to create storms of immense power.
The instability in these storms is so great that it can create wind shear, microbursts and hail damage far beyond what is normal. Most people understand what hail damage and wind shear is. Microbursts are not as well known but they are extremely dangerous. This is especially true for aircraft. What most people have to deal with is the hail damage that is left behind. Homes can become damaged and many people are very familiar what this can do to a home’s roof. The only way to address this is with a good roofing contractor like Evergreen Construction. They can make sure that any damage you suffer is quickly and efficiently taken care of.
Storm Watch: Trouble for the Southwest
06 August 2009
It seems that much of the storm system that has hit the Midwest has finally cleared out. This has brought some long needed relief to the area. It is a welcome break for these people and it will give people the opportunity to assess any damage that they may have suffered to their homes. The storms that recently blew through were powerful. In fact, it seems like many of the storms that have hit the area have been more severe than usual. It could be because of El Nino, but we will really see El Nino’s effect once winter comes around.
While the Midwest is getting a much needed break, the Southwest is starting to suffer. Storms that have blown into the area of Baja California Mexico have added a tremendous amount of moisture in the air and you can see large storm clouds forming off of the mountains. These will certainly bring some hail damage to the area, but that is nothing new to the people of the Midwest. It is a time when hail damage must be taken care of and this can really only be accomplished by a good roofing contractor like Evergreen Construction.
